2006年获四川大学生物技术学士学位,2011年获清华大学生物学博士学位。后于美国加州大学圣迭戈分校(UCSD)诺贝尔生理与医学奖得主实验室和新加坡科技局(A*STAR)从事博士后研究。2015年入职bat365中文官方网站担任课题组长(PI)。
左为团队深入开展基于成体干细胞的肺、肾两大重要脏器的再生修复与功能增强研究。提出器官再生是其发育过程重演的创新理论,开创了RClone药品级前体细胞分离扩增技术,负责三项国家卫健委干细胞临床研究备案项目,主导完成世界上首例肺前体细胞移植临床试验。论文成果发表在Nature、American Journal of Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine、EMBO Molecular Medicine、Protein & Cell等高影响力期刊上, 单篇通讯作者论文被引用近2000次。2021年,其开发的全球首创(“First-in-class”)肺前体细胞1类新药REGEND001获国家药监局批件进入II期临床,目前已成功完成近百例肺脏损伤患者的治疗,是世界上唯一可有效改善肺脏换气功能的候选产品。相关成果入选2018中国医药生物技术年度十大进展。
左为教授先后入选国家青年特聘专家、国家教育部高层次青年学者、江苏省双创专家、江西省双千计划专家等人才计划。获国家重点研发计划、国自然优秀青年基金、新冠国际合作专项基金等项目资助。2018年,左为教授被国家刊物官方评选为“中国年度十大创新先锋”,被誉为中国的“再生天才(Regeneration Genius)”。2021年入选中国“科学家创业先锋”榜单Top5。
